Santander Brasil Bank is a subsidiary of Banco Santander, a global financial company, based in Spain. It was established in Brazil in 1982 with a representative office and nine years later in 1991 started operations as Santander Investment.
In 1997, Santander Group has acquired Banco Geral do Comércio SA. The three acquisitions made in subsequent years earned the Santander Group a position among the largest financial companies in Brazil.
Currently, Santander is the third private bank by assets in Brazil and first among international banks. The customer base exceeds 6.7 million. There are 1897 outlets and 7119 ATMs in operation.
